CAD (Computer Aided Design) Modeling

3D modeling or CAD (Computer Aided Design) allows engineers and designers to build realistic computer models of parts and assemblies. These models can be then 3D Printed or CNC machined as well as used to run complex simulations. A wide range of parameters can be simulated such as strength or temperature resistance before any physical models have been created, enabling a much faster and cheaper workflow.

Printed Circuit Board Design:

A printed circuit board (PCB) mechanically supports and electrically connects electrical or electronic components using conductive tracks, pads and other features etched from one or more sheet layers of copper laminated onto and/or between sheet layers of a non-conductive substrate. Components are generally soldered onto the PCB to both electrically connect and mechanically fasten them to it.

Printed circuit boards are used in all but the simplest electronic products

PCB Assembly:

PCB assembly Electronic assembly is the process of populating or stuffing printed circuit boards with electronic surface mount and/or through-hole components to form a functional printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). The PCB main function is to mechanically support and electrically connect the electronic components.

High Precision Machining:

In the manufacturing industry, “high precision machining” typically refers to machining parts with tolerances in the single-digit micron range, Machining parts with very tight tolerances are always a challenge, however the complexity of a job is determined not only by required tolerances, but also by the materials used and the number of features on the part.

Laser Tube Cutting:

What Is Laser Tube Cutting? Laser tube cutting is the process and technique used to cut tubes, structural shapes, or channels. The process will cut these items to the length needed. It can also cut out holes or designs in the tubing. It is a precise cutting technique. It can also be used on a wide variety of materials in all shapes and sizes. When considering using laser tube cutting, look for a metal fabricator with years of experience in laser cutting.

CNC Tube Bending:

What is CNC bending? Computer numerically controlled (CNC) bending is a manufacturing process that is carried out by CNC press brakes (also known as CNC brake presses). These machines can bend sheet metal work from just a few mm across to sections many meters long on the largest industrial machines.

Subtractive Manufacturing:

Subtractive manufacturing is an umbrella term for various controlled machining and material removal processes that start with solid blocks, bars, rods of plastic, metal, or other materials that are shaped by removing material through cutting, boring, drilling, and grinding.

These processes are either performed manually or more commonly, driven by computer numerical control (CNC).

In CNC, a virtual model designed in CAD software serves as input for the fabrication tool. Software simulation is combined with user input to generate toolpaths that guide the cutting tool through the part geometry. These instructions tell the machine how to make necessary cuts, channels, holes, and any other features that require material removal, taking into account speed of the cutting tool and feed rate of the material. CNC tools manufacture parts based on this computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) data, with little or no human assistance or interaction.

Additive Manufacturing:

Additive Manufacturing, is the construction of a three-dimensional object from a CAD model or a digital 3D model. The term "3D printing" can refer to a variety of processes in which material is deposited, joined or solidified under computer control to create a three-dimensional object, with material being added together (such as liquids or powder grains being fused together), typically layer by layer.

In the 1980s, 3D printing techniques were considered suitable only for the production of functional or aesthetic prototypes, and a more appropriate term for it at the time was rapid prototyping. As of 2019, the precision, repeatability, and material range of 3D printing have increased to the point that some 3D printing processes are considered viable as an industrial-production technology, whereby the term additive manufacturing can be used synonymously with 3D printing. One of the key advantages of 3D printing is the ability to produce very complex shapes or geometries that would be otherwise impossible to construct by hand, including hollow parts or parts with internal truss structures to reduce weight. Fused deposition modeling, or FDM, is the most common 3D printing process in use as of 2020.

TIG Welding:

Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding, is an arc welding process that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld. The weld area and electrode are protected from oxidation or other atmospheric contamination by an inert shielding gas (argon or helium). A filler metal is normally used, though some welds, known as autogenous welds, or fusion welds do not require it. When helium is used, this is known as heliarc welding.
